Northern White Cedar
Graceful soft & fragrant evergreen foliage, the wind pollinated female & male cones flower in late spring & early summer ultimately producing small (1/2") upright purple to tan cones, host to several moths including the Curve-lined Angle (Digrammia continuata), wildlife that forage on the cones include Ruffed Grouse, Red Squirrels, Pine Siskin, & the Common Redpoll, excellent nesting habitat for song birds. Fabulous evergreen tree that is usually associated with the northern/northeastern US & Canada but grows further south in the mountain & also the Pinelands!
