Small white flowers dot the wand-like 4 to 12” flower spikes from July through October, persistent pale beaked seeds stick on the stem into the fall (‘jumping’ far & wide if you try to collect them!), broad downy leaves up to 6” long often with decorative ‘thumb print’ on the leaves, overall effect is very attractive - both soft from the leaf texture & airy from the flower wands, found in rich moist woods.
