Clusters of up to 4 upright pale yellow-green spikelets 1 to 1.75" long from May through June relax to attractive hanging tan seed heads that persist all summer, densely tufted culms with leaves up to 1 foot long, tolerates periodic flooding, Butterfly caterpillar host (several!), birds eat the seeds.
