A simply adorable spring ephemeral, clusters of beautiful & fragrant small (> ¼" wide ) white flowers streaked with pink bloom from early April to late spring, flowers only open during sunny days - they nod & close overnight & during cloudy weather, the succulent narrow fleshy foliage melts away & goes dormant with the first very hot weather in early summer, grows from (edible!) underground corms called 'fairy potatoes', important nectar & pollen source for a wide variety of native bees. I love this plant! My childhood yard & woods were carpeted with these flowers every spring & I would bring tiny bouquets of them home to my mother.
