White flowers up to an inch wide peek out between deep green three-part leaves from March (in south) through June, small bright-red juicy fruit grow up to 3/4" & develop below the leaves from late May to late June, these strawberries are very edible & tasty (if you can get to them before the wildlife!), this plant was crossed with a South American species to give us our garden strawberry, grows from a crown and spreads by runners, good groundcover, host plant for Grizzled Skipper (Pyrgus centaureae) caterpillars.
