Spikes of soft pink tubular flowers from May through July, smooth semi-evergreen leaves up to 6 inch long appear almost fused at the base, attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, bees (esp. bumble bees) and moths, salt tolerant. A rare plant of wooded hillsides.
