Terrifically showy violet to deep magenta tubular flowers with purple-striped white throats from May through June, purple stems bear rounded purple veined leaves up to 6 inch long, semi-evergreen, considered a short-lived perennial so allow it to self-seed, unusual cut flower, attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and moths, clay and drought tolerant, prefers well-drained soil.
