A grand and elegant native pine with soft 5 needle clusters (about 4 inch long) that are light green with a bluish cast, 6-8 inch green cones hang like ornaments and turn brown as they age and open, caterpillar host for the Eastern Pine Elfin (Callophrys niphon), suitable for Bonsai, rapid grower, evergreen, attracts birds (for seed eating and nesting), likes well-drained acid soil, young trees will tolerate light shade.
