Wonderfully fragrant 2 inch wide gentle pink flowers from June through July, late summer produces bright red rose hips (enjoyed by Blue Birds!), slender stems branch freely and are adorned with thorns (of course!), leaves with 3 to 7 leaflets turn red and gold in fall, takes more shade than most roses, attracts butterflies, moderately salt tolerant, disease resistant, good rain garden plant, NY state flower, forms colonies slowly by suckers.
