New three-part blue-violet flowers with yellow stamens open daily in terminal clusters from May through July, iris-like leaves up to 1 foot long are often best cut back in mid summer to encourage fresh growth, Clay & Black Walnut tolerant, will tolerate some sand or gravel, enjoys acid soil, attracts bumble bees and other native bees.
